How We Review

This page explains the process behind every review, comparison, and roundup we publish on SoloStack. Software pricing and features change constantly, and our goal is to give solopreneurs information they can actually trust. Here is exactly what we do — and don't do — when we put together an article.

Pricing is verified at the source

Every price, plan name, and free-plan limit we publish is checked directly against the vendor's official pricing page at the time of writing. We note the year the pricing was verified so you can judge how current the information is. Vendors change pricing and plan structures often, so we periodically re-verify published articles and update them when something has changed.

We capture our own screenshots

The pricing-page screenshots you see in our articles are captured by us, directly from the vendor's live public pages, and are dated (for example, "captured July 2026"). We do not reuse a vendor's marketing images or stock screenshots.

We do not fabricate hands-on test results

If we have not personally run a timed test or benchmark on a product, we do not publish a number for it. Where hands-on testing would strengthen a claim but we haven't completed it yet, we say so rather than inventing data. Qualitative judgments — how a tool feels to use, how clear its onboarding is — are presented as editorial opinion, not as measured results.

Recommendations are use-case based

We do not name a single "best" tool for everyone. Solopreneurs have different budgets, technical comfort levels, and workflows, so we match tools to specific situations and explicitly call out who should not pick a given tool, not just who should.

Affiliate relationships never change our rankings

We earn commissions from some of the links on this site — see our full Affiliate Disclosure. Commission rates play no part in how we order or score products, and we regularly recommend free tools and cheaper competitors where they genuinely serve the reader better than a paid, commission-earning option.

Corrections

Software changes fast, and we don't always catch a pricing change or an error the moment it happens. If you spot something outdated or incorrect, email us at[email protected] with the article URL, and we will review and update it.

Independence

We are not sponsored by, and do not accept payment from, any vendor to be featured or ranked higher on SoloStack.
